Established in 2008, Q-Youth is a by-youth, for-youth charitable organisation dedicated to providing support, advocacy, information and education for queer and trans youth and their friends, family & whānau, schools, workplaces, and wider communities.
We are committed to safety and work with the Nelson community to make the Nelson region a safe place to grow up LGBTQ+.
Our past projects have included
The Q-Youth Ball: a fun & glamorous night for queer and trans youth and their supporters
Noho marae: overnight stays at local marae where youth learn tikanga and attend educational workshops
The Q-Youth Zine: a zine containing art, poetry, short stories, essays, comic strips, and much more made by the youth
Regional hui: two- or three-day events for LGBTQ+ youth from around the Nelson, Tasman and Marlborough regions to meet and learn from one another
